A KWELERA woman was conned out of R500 at the East London Magistrate’s Court when an unidentified man said her son would be released on bail if she gave him the money. He disappeared with the cash. Nosimo Nonkenyana’s son was arrested on Sunday for possessing an unlicensed firearm. “There were three boys arrested. Yesterday [Monday] we came to court but by lunchtime they had not been called so I went home,” Nonkenyana said. “One of the other boys’ mothers told me the boys were released on R500 bail, which they paid already. She told me to come to court to bail my son out today.” She borrowed the money and by 7am yesterday was outside the court building waiting to pay the bail. Nonkenyana then asked someone where she was supposed to go and was given directions. However on the way an unidentified man walked up to her and asked about the bail she wanted to pay. “He said I should give him my ID book and the money and wait for him, and that my son would be released.
