AN MDANTSANE mother has found herself on the wrong side of the law after allegedly hiding her son from police. Thembisa Ncedani, 49, of NU1 in Mdantsane appeared in the magistrate’s court along with court security guard Nkosinathi Gamana, 38, yesterday. Both are accused of helping housebreaking and theft suspect Lelethu Ncedani, 26, evade arrest. They face a charge of defeating the ends of justice. Ncedani and Gamana, who live on the same property, were allegedly spotted on CCTV footage smuggling Lelethu into a guard room at the magistrate’s court on Thursday morning. Lelethu was due to make his second appearance for a July housebreaking and theft case. He had been out on bail since August. Police spokesman Lieutenant Nkosikho Mzuku said after his release, Lelethu allegedly robbed residents in NU1. “He is facing numerous allegations of robbery with aggravating circumstances. People are waiting outside the police station wanting to open cases against him,” said Mzuku yesterday.
